Submit a claim

Did you experience a delay while travelling with European Sleeper, or did disruption cause you to incur additional expenses? In certain situations, you can request compensation using our claim form.

When can you submit a claim?

You can use the claim form if:

  • you arrived at your destination at least 60 minutes late on a European Sleeper train;
  • you submit your claim no later than 3 months after your journey;
  • you wish to request compensation for a delay:
    • for a delay of 60–119 minutes, you will receive a 25% refund;
    • for a delay of more than 120 minutes, you will receive a 50% refund;
  • you incurred expenses for alternative transport, a hotel and/or food and drinks, and you received prior approval from European Sleeper customer service or train staff to claim these expenses.

When are you not entitled to compensation for a delay?

You will not receive a refund if you were informed before departure of a revised timetable with a longer journey time.
If you are then also delayed in relation to this revised timetable, you can submit a claim for that delay.

What do you need?

Please have the following information and documents ready before you start completing the claim form:

  • your booking reference;
  • the departure date and arrival station of your journey;
  • your bank details, if requested;
  • receipts, invoices, tickets or other proof of payment when claiming additional expenses;
  • the total amount you wish to claim.

Please note

Please note: complete a separate claim form for each delayed journey.
We will review your request after receiving it. If you booked directly with European Sleeper and your request is approved, the refund will be paid within 4–6 weeks to the bank account or credit card used to pay for the tickets. If you booked through a third party, we will determine whether the refund will be handled by European Sleeper or by that party.
